Overview
Prospects in the Gulf continue to buoyed by favourable oil and gas prices, firm capital flows and robust current account surpluses. Growth has also been supported by the recovery in the construction and real estate sectors, as well as by the expansion of the tourism, most notably in the United Arab Emirates.
Efforts to develop the non-oil private sector are being pursued, Kuwait currently the most advanced, with Saudi being the largest economy in the region and the largest source of project opportunities and non oil growth is expanding rapidly and currently running at 4.5%. While Qatar offers opportunities related to the 2022 World Cup, similar potential is available in manufacturing, hotels and restaurants, and insurance.
